Something's got to give
Sometimes design inspiration can come from an interesting source. Here, the clients fell in love with the kitchen featured in the movie "Something's Got to Give." The entire home went through a major addition and remodel while the owners lived in their guest house on this ranch property.
Our challenge was to design the kitchen and go to order before a wall was in place. The latch pulls which the client had determined early in the process support the design aesthetic of this Georgian revival home, and required the cabinet styling to be a traditional inset door. Even a kitchen with two sinks can use a pot filler at the cooking area. Drawer banks flanking the range house an array of spices and utensils, while cookware is stored in the island. The corner sink commands the best view in the kitchen, and rightly so. To the left is the integrated dishwasher, and a trash compactor is to the right. Countertops are honed Black Absolute granite, with a pillowed subway tile backsplash. This kitchen was installed with pre-finished cabinetry, on schedule, and stole the show.
